We believe all people are created in God’s image in whose eyes we are all equal. We want to welcome people and families from all cultures and ages into our community. We believe every person is our neighbour regardless of culture or ethnic origin. When two people’s paths cross it is a sacred place.
What can you expect as a visitor? You will get a warm welcome and as you look around you will see people of all ages and backgrounds. Our worship style is contemporary. We are large enough to be lively but small enough to be intimate. Through our preaching we want you to hear God talking to you, whether you are a Christian or not. The themes we engage with are relevant to living everyday life.
As well as an emphasis on celebration, we want to help people explore the more contemplative aspects of Christianity, through the disciplines of silence, solitude and meditating on Scripture.
Most people, whether they would call themselves Christians or not are looking for sanctuary, a safe place in the busyness of modern life. For a lot of people their third space after home and work might be a coffee shop.
We want to create that sort of ‘third space’ for people of all backgrounds, with or without faith, here at Stanmore. We do believe that true sanctuary involves a relationship with God. The doorway to that sanctuary begins with how we treat other people, which is why welcoming all people because they are all created in God’s image, is so important to us.
We also believe we can help people build a sanctuary of heart and mind that they can take with them wherever they go, whatever their circumstances.
If you want to be part of a community like this, do come and join us on a Sunday morning.
